My problem is backwards from most of the postings here. It's the wired interface that won't work.
Setup:
SqueezeCenter on Linux (Ubuntu)
Squeezebox Boom works fine wired.
Squeezebox Duet controller works fine 802.11G/WPA and can control both Boom and Receiver
Receiver works wireless, but I can't get it to work wired. It stalls out at a Blue light. I also can't get bridged mode to work. Wirelessly it works ok, 99+% of the time (occasionally rebuffering).
I'm using a Linux box as a router (IPCOP) with Linksys WRT54G's as access points. System is segmented 192.168.0.x wired, 192.168.1.x wireless. I have the 192.168.1.0/23 : 3483 DMZ pinholes configured for TCP/UDP and :9000 for TCP as per the skimpy manual.
Now, if it were a firewall issue I'd suspect that the Duet controller wouldn't work with my Boom - but it works fine. As the Boom is also wired any firewall issues should crop up here.
I've reset the receiver multiple times without any luck. I've tried known good cables - and the can attach other devices (ROKU, Laptop etc) to the cable with a strong connection. I've tried static IP's thru DHCP.
I can ping the Duet Receiver, so the wiring seems intact.
Any ideas would be very appreciated!

How are you configuring the SBC? Robin's wonderful netUDAP works well.

Thanks for that link - it looks VERY useful - I'll tive UDAP a try tonight.
The "Getting Started" docs mention opening up port 17784 UDP. That wasn't anywhere in Logitech's documentation. Is this necessary for a "normal" setup as well? If so, this may well be my problem.

I could be wrong, but I believe that in "normal" operation, the SBC sets
up the SBR via a private ad-hoc wireless net between the two, so no
adjustments are needed to your regular firewall.
But when it's your PC, using Net-UDAP, to setup the SBR, the same
traffic is going over your regular net, and may be blocked by your firewall.
cheers,
calum.

Many thanks!
UDAP worked perfectly and allowed configuration of the Receiver to work properly.
Logitech needs to adapt this program for a simple setup routine!
