    Ubuntu Squeezecenter and USB drive

This weekend I dumped my Vista and rebuilt a dedicated machine for Squeezecenter using Ubuntu 8.10. I am no Linux expert but I finally managed to get everything working fine . But I spent hours to get my WD USB hard drive to be seen by Squeezecenter. After initial install the HD would mount but could not be seen in the settings of Squeezecenter library. After some research I found this post:

    http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.ph...xUSBHardDrives

I pretty much followed the post (as it applied to slimserver), but I managed to get the usb to mount on boot into musicdrive as per the link. But now I cannot access the drive as it is not visible any more in my user account nor can I access from folder. As I said I am no Linux expert.

My question: Is there not an easier way to do this? By this I mean can I not let the USB drive mount normally per default but have squeezecenter see it??? Any thoughts on this would help.

I mount my external drive using udev rules. With this it always mounts at the same location. Maybe this link will help you:

That link doesn't seem to be working. Is it correct? Or is it just out of action now?

    Thanks,
