Music Converted from CBR to ABR?

I noticed that my music (ripped in AIFF) be converted t ABR when it is played (SC 7.3.2) as following: -

Bitrate: 1536kbps CBR (Converted to 705.6kbps ABR)

I experienced some rebuffering when the track was played, is it due to the conversion? My network max. stream bitrate has been set to no limit.

Anyway not to convert the bit rate?

    Thanks in advance.

That just means the server is transcoding to FLAC. Perhaps the text should be a bit less cryptic about that. You shouldn't have any issues unless your network or server can't keep up with the transcoding.

Can't the server read AIFF and is it possible not to transcoding to FLAC to maintain higher bitrate?

After restarting iMac, i have no longer experience rebuffering.

I understand, you need to clear and delete cache file on PC platform, what about Mac OS, i can't find cache subfolder under SqueezeCenter.

It's better for your network and the player's buffer to send less
bits, so you want to use FLAC in this case. SC's cache won't have any
impact on this issue, it sounds like it must have been something with
    your computer.

    Thanks Andy,

    The rebuffering reoccurs.

I have few network tests just now, it gives me 100% at 500kbps, occasionally i get 100% at 1000kbps, average = 80%.

I only encounter the instability wifi network today. I have diagnosed my network setting, even i turned my router off and on again, restart my iMac. What went wrong?

No more rebuffering problem for 3 hours, perhaps, there was a clash on wifi network.

Try changing wifi channels. Install iStumbler to see if your
neighbors are interfering with your network. (Pick a channel no one
else is using, but only use 1, 6, or 11.)

    Thanks for your help.

My current network was set to closed (hidden) network, i just installed istumbler but i can't locate my network and the channel, i believe it was set at default channel (ch 11). May i know how to set my network open network?

    TIA

On your wireless router there is usually an option to broadcast the SSID. It sounds like that option is turned off. Turn it on and istumbler should be able to see it.

The router also usually has a dropdown list of channels for you to choose from.

    Thanks for your reply, Mick

My wireless router is Aztech DSL600EW, i can't find any option to broadcast SSID under Network Preference, any specific area should i search?

I remember my iMac autodetect this router without installation disc.
