Remote Streaming Linux server to Winamp

Thank you for your help. I missed the point that the
Winamp instance becomes another "player" in the
slimserver UI. I was queueing up selections in my
    Slimp3 player.

Now I am streaming my MP3 collection from home through
an SSH tunnel. Totally untraceable by the company's
    policy enforcing software.

I am port forwarding port 9000 in SSH and my player is
actually localhost (127.0.0.1). CPU load is negligible
on both ends, and the DSL barely notices it. Perfectly
    clean sound.

    Thanks again,

    Dan

    Welcome to the club :-)

Have you also checked out SoftSqueeze? It behaves just like a real
Squeezebox, works just fine over an ssh tunnel, and according to the author,
will have built-in ssh tunneling support soon.
