Multiple devices and syncing/copy their configs?

    Hi all

I am wondering if it is possible to copy an xml file or something that holds the basic configuration for my devices?

Like changing the screensaver, screen background, track fading etc etc for every device, duets, booms and squeezeplay? so that they are all the same?

    Thanks in advance

My SettingsManager plugin allows you to copy, export/import as text, and synchronize settings for hardware players (Boom, Classic, Receiver, etc.) and software tuning in the /stream.mp3 URL. It does not (yet) support SqueezePlay or playback through the Controller well, as 1) SP and SBC store much of their config outside the SqueezeCenter server, 2) they have a number of settings not found in the "traditional" Squeezeboxes, and 3) I haven't made time to work on SP/SBC support.

    That sounds perfect.

    Giving it a try ...

    Thanks.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am unable to find an answer in the search feature.

I now have a second Duet Controller:

Is it possible to use WinSCP to copy the entire system of one SBC to another SBC to "duplicate" the entire controller?

This seems like a great way to copy configs from one SBC to another and to back up the SBC configs.

    Thanks!

I think that's unlikely, at least with a simple copy. Most of the settings that aren't kept on the SBS server are stored underneath the /etc folder on the Controller, but if I recall correctly, some of those settings files include device-specific information like the Controller's hardware MAC address. You may be able to do some really basic string replacement to clone the settings -- it's probably feasible to make a nice GUI for cloning with something like this free (BSD license) .Net class: http://www.tamirgal.com/blog/page/SharpSSH.aspx It would be really slick to have a .Net app that used UDP to discover your SBS server, prompted you for username/password if needed, discovered the attached SqueezePlay devices (Controller, Radio, Touch, etc.), and offered a nice GUI to copy the settings.

Ideally you could use SettingsManager, but currently the changes to SqueezePlay and SBS needed for that are scheduled for something like next summmer: https://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=11442
