I realize it's a bit popish, but when they came out in 1973 I was impressed by Lindsey Buckingham's guitar work and ejoyed their vocals alot. For the past couple of years I've been looking for their recording on CD, but to no avail. I've found some poor quality bootlegs and just today discovered that you can download their album right from their website. Although it's not too bad (iTunes MP3 quality), I'm sure it has or could be done better. Anyone run across a legit copy of their recording.
Even though it's not great quality, I'm still listening and enjoying the files I downloaded from their site today. It's been a while.

Hi Howard
I have their album plus the "Coffee Plant Demos" in FLAC. The Buckingham Nicks sound is pretty good, very listenable whereas Coffee Plant Demos whilst still listenable is noticeably poorer in quality. The album's not available for sale albeit there's a persistent rumour that it may one day see the light of day. If you like Lindsey's guitar work, you should get his solo albums and also try to get a copy of the unreleased Gift of Screws, many of the songs ended up on FM's Say You Will. The unreleased GoS' production is excellent and really showcases Lindsey's talents. He recently released an official Gift of Screws, which is also excellent, but not a substitute for the unlreleased GoS. Get both, you won't regret it.

Thanks!
Howard,
Thanks for posting this. I have also been a fan of the album for years, and have a couple of beat up copies on vinyl. I did not know that the mp3 tracks were posted on the internet. As you said, not ideal as far as quality, but at least the music is available - and that is ultimately what it is all about!

Hi Pat..
Hi Pat,
It doesn't seem to me that they are copied that well, but then I haven't heard the album in so long I can't remember if it was any better :-) As you say, it's just nice to hear it again.
Wonder why they post it out there on the web site, but won't allow it to be put on CD?

I recall that I read somewhere (sorry, the mind can't remember the details of where) that Buckingham and Nicks own the masters, but that there are political issues with Fleetwood Mac on getting it issued. I remember the article saying that Lindsey does want it released and it probably would be one day.
The site I found today to download the tracks from looks to be a fan site, not an official site. I haven't listened closely yet, but it does not appear to be a needledrop. The site does thank Tom Moncrieff, former bassist for Buckingham Nicks for supplying the audio.
If anyone else has more details, I would love to hear them!

Howard, I figure you probably already know about this one, but just in case you don't (or in case it might be new to somebody else): If you're a fan of Buckingham Nicks, you'll probably enjoy the Fleetwood Mac album Mystery To Me. The guitar work is pre-Buckingham (courtesy of the Bobs Welch & Weston) but it's terrific, and Christine's vocals (as well the others') are also great. The advantage is, this album is widely available and easy to obtain. To my mind, it's the best Fleetwood Mac album pre-Buckingham/Nicks.

it actually appears to be a new bootleg of the best available audio quality and mastering that was just released a few weeks ago. should be legal to download.
