Using Transporter as a DAC on Lyngdorf DPA-1

This may not be a good idea... The KRK Ergo is a studio room correction product that also uses the Lyngdorf RoomPerfect technology. Their FAQ section has the following to say about using an external DAC with it:

"Is there a way to bypass the Digital to Analog converters on ERGO so I can use another D/A converter?"

No, ERGO uses phase accurate FIR filters in both, the correction algorithm and the D/A converters. FIR filters, unlike IIR filters found in some D/A converters, do not exhibit frequency dependent phase shifts. Since ERGO corrects in both time (phase) and frequency domains, it is imperative that we know the characteristics of the D/A converter and do not induce unwanted or variable phase distortions. Hence the reason behind ERGO's architecture.

So, unless the Transporter uses "phase accurate FIR filters" (?) it is probably a bad idea...

    specific to the Transporter...

Does anyone know or have input on how the DAC in the Transporter converts or upsamples the signal coming in over Ethernet?

Does everything get upsampled, or does it pass 24/96. What algorithm does the DAC use? Any info here would be appreciated.

The TP DAC does not upsample. It will pass 96k to the digital outs if that is what came in. Upsampling needs to be done on the server before data is sent to the TP (or any SB for that matter)
You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...

Just found this topic. I know it's a little old, but still thought that I might get some help here.
I'm thinking of using my SB Touch with Welborne PSU with a Lyngdorf TDAI 2200 with RP. My speakers are the KEF Reference 201.2 books.
Since I normally have to move a lot I thought that it would be sth really practical. I know that Phil uses (used) Inguz, but I'm not sure I'm quite ready for that kind of work, especially because a one-box-system sounds interesting to me (though I'd be very tempted if I found a DPA-1 and drove it directly into an amp). The fact that I wouldn't have to use too many cables would probably create a high WAF.
Could you guys tell me how your results have been so far? Is there anything similar that might be cheaper and as-good-as (or even better) on the market? I'm a little unsure about the amp itself, but am very tempted to give it a try. Fact is, that I won't be able to audtion if I decide to go for one.
Hope you guys can help me out.
    Regards
    André

PS: it seems to me that there is no D/A conversion in the TDAI 2200. Keeping everything digital from beginning to end sounds like the best way to go. The only real conversion would be A/D (with optional module), isn't it?

Now the post is even older, but as I have a setup with SB Touch and a Lyngdorf TDAI 2200 with RoomPerfect, I'd thought I'd drop a note.
I'm extremely pleased with the system, both when it comes to sound and WAF.
RoomPerfect is rather addictive - a lot can be said, but in short it allows you to listen to music loud all day without getting tired in your head
I my experience, RoomPerfect is very easy to set up, but one has still to be aware of the basic physics of sound to get the most of the system: RoomPerfect cannot correct poor speaker placement, it only optimises within the given setting. RoomPerfect optimises the sound by removing non-sound energy and say an out-of-phase sub can make it remove a lot! In such case the sound will become somewhat flat and artificial, but if the basic physics of sound are kept in mind when placing the speakers, a Stradivarius will render as a Stradivarius.
The TDAI 2200 is a true digital amplifier, so there's no D/A conversion before amplifying - the amplifier is actually a power DAC. Using Equibit it renders the sound in every detail regardless of volume and as you can keep everything digital 24/96 all the way to the speaker-cables, you get a lot of detail combined with emense power and control. This also makes it a very "clean" amplifier with no sound of it own, so it very revealing or even unforgiving when poor recordings are played - you get what's recorded, no less, no more, and if you prefer a "toned" sound, Lyngdorf is not the way to go.
BTW, Lyngdorf is now working together with Steinway - the price is a no less than scary (to me anyway), but it sure looks promising, fx http://www.steinwaylyngdorf.com/prod...eries-speakers
