Excluding directories / files during scan

I use iTunes to manage all my CD / podcast / video and movie content. The trouble with this is that Slimserver is now picking up the contents of the
podcasts, Tv Shows and Movies folders when scanning for new content. Is there a way to exclude these directories or even a way to exclude particular files by suffix eg. .mov, .m4v etc ?

I would also like to find a solution to this issue as well.

Do you have iTunes managing the filing? If so then it provides different directories for different content, ie

    Top Level Directory
    -Podcasts
    -Music
    -Audiobooks
    etc

so instead for scanning at the top level directory, just scan music only.

Or in the case of Linux, I just chmod the directories containing things like 'Books on Tape' to not be readble by SBS.

I have tried this and unfortunately it doesn't seem to make any difference. I am currently in the process of running a clear\rescan having unchecked the iTunes checkbox to see if this makes any difference
