    Linn studio masters

I would very much like to play the flac studio masters available from Linn through a Squeezebox. See here

    http://www.linnrecords.com/linn-down...testfiles.aspx

There are some testfiles which I have downloaded but the squeezebox does not recognise the files being present. Can the Squeezebox play these formats?

Oh yes - but you need the FLAC 96 / 88.2 versions and SC 7.3.2 (minimum). They sound... Great!
You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
    Touch(wired/W7)+Teddy Pardo PSU - Audiolense 3.3/2.0+INGUZ DRC - MF M1 DAC - Linn 5103 - full Aktiv 5.1 system (6x LK140's, ESPEK/TRIKAN/KATAN/SEIZMIK 10.5), Pekin Tuner, Townsend Supertweeters,VdH Toslink,Kimber 8TC Speaker & Chord Signature Plus Interconnect cables
    Stax4070+SRM7/II phones

    A couple of questions:

Why do you need FLAC 96/88.2? What is this?

How are the files being imported into I-tunes? I presume they don't remain FLAC files.

When you say they sound great, haven't they been downconverted to 24/48 in SC 7.3.2? They may still sound great, but they are being heard at their intended level of resolution.

I don't use iTunes or any Apple formats.

7.3.2 supports downsampling of 96/24 or 88.2/24 FLAC (only) via SOX - high quality result. Prior to 7.3.2 this didn't work properly (files were converted to Mp3!).

Yes the files are downsampled - but they are great recordings in the first place. This is the best sound quality obtainable IMHO from a squeezebox device (except for the Transporter).
