My SqueezeBox Classic doesn't connect to SqueezeCenter

My squeezeBox classic doesn't connect to SqueezeCenter when i try to configure. it connects to my WiFi Network, then it gets a good Ip in DHCP mode, and then, nothing. It just says "connecting to Slim Server", and shows a black scree.

I have Linux Ubuntu 8.10, and i tried both SqueezeCenter 7.1 and 7.2.
I tried to fix this by configuring my firewall, first with UFW, then directly with IPTABLES, then with Firestarter, opening the good ports as said on this forum. Id fixed nothing.

Now it seems i can't see my Network neighborhood (but i don't know if this is because my neighbours are out, or if my network doesn't work).
I hope my firewall tries didn't broke something...
I can't configure my router because i'm in a students residence.

It should work, i used to share files with my neighbours...
And my SqueezeBox is rightly connected to the router !
    I don't know why id doesn't work.

    Help me !

Ps: I just tried to connect by another Wifi network, it doesn't work (i think it comes from my computer).

It sounds like firewall troubles to me. Have you tried disabling the firewall on Ubuntu? Ubuntu doesn't really need a firewall if you're behind a NAT router. It doesn't leave anything open to the network by default.

Could you give us more details about the firewall rules you're trying to use?

Unrelated, you should use squeezecenter 7.3.1 (current release) from the slimdevices package repository.

    Please see http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/DebianPackage

Can you post the output of this command:
    Code:
    sudo iptables -L -n

    Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
    target prot opt source destination

    Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
    target prot opt source destination

    Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
    target prot opt source destination

And I hope this issue has nothing to do with some SqueezeBox need to connect directly to internet because my network doesn't allow me to connect to the internet without a http authentification... And the SqueezeBox can't do that !

No firewall, squeezebox or computer issue...
Just the f***ing network. When I set up a little ad hoc network, it works verry good, but I can't connect to the internet.
I'll have to find a fix.

Why do you need to connect to the internet? If you're playing local content no external connection is needed.

I want to use Deezer too, and sometimes a webradio.
