I just upgraded from 7.2.1 to 7.3.1 and now the SC will not start. If I move the mouse to the process icon it says “SqueezeCenter starting” and it does that forever. If I click on it only gives me the options to “Exit” or go to the Logitech Web Site.
I tried to issue the following command in a DOS shell:
C:\Programmer\SqueezeCenter\server>squeezecenter
The following CPAN modules were found but cannot work with SqueezeCenter:
Net:NS (loaded 0.63, need 0.63)
To fix this problem you have several options:
1. Install the latest version of the module(s) using CPAN: sudo cpan Some::Module
2. Update the module's package using apt-get, yum, etc.
3. Run the .tar.gz version of SqueezeCenter which includes all required CPAN modules.
Undefined subroutine &main::main called at slimserver.pl line 88.
C:\Programmer\SqueezeCenter\server>
It used to work on version 7.2.1. That is, I have seen the problem a few times, but solved it be restarting the SC. This doesn’t help anymore. Neither does reboot of the PC.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Michael

Others with the same problem often refer to a log file. Which log file is that? Where is it located?
Also, I uninstalled 7.3.1 and reinstalled 7.2.1 which is now running, but I have some connection problem to the controller so I would still like to try the new version to see if this is any better :-)

I have the same problem. Have tried several solutions - and with XP and Vista, just in case - but no solutions.
If you perform a clean boot on your XP, the 7.3.1 runs perfectly.
I have been talking to Logitech (Denmark), and their suggestion right now is to roll back on 7.2.1 and wait for a fix on the new 7.3.1 if you have problems.
Be aware that you might have problems connected to your firewall - as well from your antivirus provider as the one in XP - you must set exceptions here. But it doesn't do the trick in my solution anyway.

Exactly the same error message with Vista
I have the same behaviour, same error. So far no luck with any 7.3.x relase. When I go back to 7.2.x it works again.

Exact same problem here
Bought a Squeezebox for myself this Christmas, and used four days trying to set it up before finding this thread with the exact same problem as mine. Located version 7.2.1 on the web, installed it, and it all works nicely now.
I have Vista, and have absolutely no programs blocking any ports nescessary to the SN. When I try running Troubleshooter.exe, I still keep getting this error:
SqueezeCenter is running but can''t be connected to on port 9000
Probing Ports
-> Port 9000: nope
-> Port 9090: nope
-> Port 3483: nope
Very strange issue, I hope Logitech finds out what's wrong with the new versions (or our computers and post back here) so we can upgrade in the future ...

I tried running standby from 7.2 and it did not work.
I tried the 7.3 patch and it did not work.
I tried the new PreventStandBy V2.0 and it did not work. It did prevent standby but it would suddenly stop playing but everything would stay on. If I just hit play again it would start back up.
I have rolled back to 7.2.1 which was fairly stable for now.Transporter/DuetController > SPDIF > Meridian G68 > DSP6000, DSP5500HC, DSP5000
