hardwired reciever - range of controller from reciver?

I am looking at the duet package with handheld controller and reciver. I have a ethernet cable running through the walls from my pc to my receiver so the Duet receiver will be hardwired (not WIFI). My question is how far from the receiver will the duet controller work? Do I have to be in the same room? Can I go to other rooms on the same floor? Other floors? Will it work through walls?

With that kind of setup, the controller talks over an ad-hoc wifi connection to the receiver. It will have about the same range as a normal wifi connection. Should work through a wall or two, depending on the construction of your house.
