    I've chickened out and bought a Duet. I think my wife will like the controller - she liked the Sonos controller but it was always out of charge when she wanted to use it. At leat the SBC comes with a charging base and if it's not charged we can always use Squeezecenter (the Sonos dektop app didn't ever want to connect to my Sonos receiver).

    Thanks to all.

    Congrats on your purchase. I think you will find that the battery life is really good on the controller. The power management works well and as you point out, it has a cradle that it can easily be dropped in to charge. And while it is charging, it is still functioning.

    Because the Sonos ZP80 is not responsive to the Sonos desktop software.

    I got the Duet (second hand, saved £100) but I can't get a peep out of it. The controller sees it, says now playing, even the Squeezecenter sees it, says it's now playing, but nothing comes out of the digital coax that I can hear.

    Is this a common problem?

    This post may be interesting; changing the cable made a difference here;

    If that doesn't help, then tell us; are you getting sound from the other outputs (analogue and digitial optical out)?
