Upgrade to last version of squeezecenter and now it won't start

Hi!

I'm on Ubuntu 8.10. Today the update manager told me a new squeezecenter was available (version 7.3). I did the update... and it's not working anymore. Even after a reboot of the server... same error message. When I connect to the server form a web browser (same host or from a different host) I get a Page Load Error with :


Failed to Connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 10.10.10.10:9000.

Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.

* Could the site be temporarily unavailable? Try again later.
* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.



Any idea?

Followed the download link and loaded it on to my Mac (Leopard). When I click on 'start server' in the pref pane it begins then flicks back to offering the start server option without allowing the web option. Tried restarting the computer with no luck. Have now reinstalled previous version.
Any suggestions?

Don't know if this is relative to your problem, but for the past two updates and the 7.3 official release I've found that during the load I need to manually kill SQUEEZ~-1.exe before it can load correctly. I open my Wondows Task Manager and when the load gets to the point where it says it is stopping SqueezeCenter, I kill the process. After that the load works.

Tried the following:

a) yum update
Downloaded and updated.
But slimserver starts and stops almost right away.

b) rpm -e squeezecenter

c) yum install slimserver
Same behavior as in a

d) rpm -e squeezecenter

e) rpm -i http://repos.slimdevices.com/yum/squ...1-1.noarch.rpm
Works but starts with the install wizard

f) rpm -e squeezecenter

g) yum install squeezecenter

So I started investigating.
I can't really strace because squeezecenter-server fails so quickly.

So I tried:
/usr/libexec/squeezecenter-server --diag --user squeezecenter

Which fails:

My 7.3 installation has also failed and I now have no working Squeezecenter.

The error message:

Where is the file 'squeezecenter-mysql.pid' supposed to come from? It's definitely not there!

So I got mine back in working order by uninstalling (full uninstall including configuration files) squeezecenter from Synaptics... then rebooting... then doing a normal install again from synaptics since it's in the repositories I have...

Then went to 10.10.10.10:9000 and there it was, nicely re-indexing the database all by itself. Sweet.

I have music in the home now... all Boxes have their new firmware and it works.

Same here ... I even removed all the dependencies (autoclean?).

Reinstalling went smoothly - I'd copied my settings, and reinstated them after the instal .... then it was just a matter of sorting out the plugins - making use of those that now support the new 7.3 loading/settings interface

Oh yea i also have CC4.2 i had to do a clean reinstall, upgrade did not work.
The trusty old clear the cache did not work either (you can try go and delete the whole cache folder )

Cool somewhat working now. Had to start squeezecenter at login - I will reboot after doing the SC setup and see is the auto start for SC works again.
