    Question / Possible bug in stored playlist rescan

    I did some searching on this forum and in the bugtracker, but could not find anything related to what I ran into, but I apologize if this has been asked or reported before.

    I have a small issue with playlists. I have a CD by "Godsmack", of which the third songs title is "Touché". I had added this song and the other songs on the CD to a playlist without any problems. But at some point I started to notice this song was missing from the playlist. I did some digging and found a rescan to be the source of these problems. When initiating a rescan I receive the following error in the scanners log file:
    Code:
    [08-11-30 01:48:51.1499] Slim::Formats::Playlists::Base::playlistEntryIsValid (120) Warning: file:///vault/music/Godsmack/The%20Other%20Side/03%20Touch%E9.mp3 found in playlist:
            file:///home/squeezecenter/Wakeup%20playlist.m3u doesn't exist on disk - skipping!
    I checked this, and the file is actually present on the drive, and I can play it without any problems. I deleted the old playist, created a new one and stored it. The song in question would play just fine, but after doing a "Look for new and changed music" rescan, it would be removed from the stored playlist with the reason given above.

    When viewing the songs properties in the SqueezeCenter interface, the songs location is listed as follows:

    Location: /vault/music/Godsmack/The Other Side/03 Touché.mp3

    The same problem occurs with a song from a different album with the following name:

    Location: /vault/music/System of a Down/Steal This Album! [Clean]/05 Nüguns.mp3

    The error reported for this file is the same:
    Code:
    [08-11-30 01:22:07.5161] Slim::Formats::Playlists::Base::playlistEntryIsValid (120) Warning: file:///vault/music/System%20of%20a%20Down/Steal%20This%20Album!%20[Clean]/05%20N%FCguns.mp3 found in playlist:
            file:///home/squeezecenter/ADHD%20Rock.m3u doesn't exist on disk - skipping!
    I'm not quite sure if this error is due to a setting on my system or not. I am running SqueezeCenter on Ubuntu Server 8.10 with the following setup:

    Code:
    SqueezeCenter Version: 7.2.1 - 23630 @ Mon Oct 20 19:54:08 PDT 2008 - Debian - EN - utf8
    Perl Version: 5.10.0 i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi
    MySQL Version: 5.0.67-0ubuntu6
    Platform Architecture: i686-linux
    If anyone has any pointers into resolving this problem then I'd be interested. If this is a bug then I'll report it as such, maybe someone could confirm my findings though? Note that the song is stored in the playlist and can be played from the playlist as it should. The problem only occurs after doing a rescan.

    While I'm at it, my friend ran into an issue I had run into a while back. We both have the album "...And Justice For All" by "Metallica". We both had stored this album in a folder/directory with the name "...And Justice For All". The dots at the start of the folder name seem to confuse the scanner. The album is not indexed at all. I removed the dots from the folder/directory name when I ran into it, and consequently the album was indexed as it should.

    And lastly, I play my music via Winamp a lot on my computer. When I connect using this player to the Squeezeserver, the player name list will have an entry added in a format much like "Winamp from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" When I then change the player name to something I prefer, the player is listed under that name in the Interface. However, if I restart the server, the player name I entered is lost. When I connect using Winamp after the restart, the player name will once again be listed as "Winamp from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx". Note that I use static IPs on the computers I connect from, the IP address does not change. Curiously, all the other settings are stored as they should too, just not the player name.
    I seem to remember a much earlier release of Squeezecenter (or rather Slimserver) storing the names correctly, but I am not 100% sure on this anymore either.

    Again, sorry if these things have been asked before. If they do have to be filed as new bugs then I will do so.

    Yep, that looks like it, thank you. I did not find it on my search, my apologies.
