    Default interface + Mac/safari = shocking

The performance of the default interface in Safari/10.5 is so so bad for me.

Pages takes literally minutes to load and never ever finish loading, status bar reports loading errors constantly. Cover art loads so slowly, even if all the album covers on the page are the same album, they load 1 by 1 despite being the same image.

The classic interface is much better but still doesn't perform brilliant.

Is squeezecenter tested on the mac platform prior to release?

Do they really take minutes, or do you think so because there's that loading indicator at the bottom? I think I've seen this before, and it was due to some background AJAX activity. But definitely not an issue.

What server hardware are you using? Is it any better in another browser?

Most of the development is done on OSX.

I too get frustrated with the default interface on an iMac G5 running 10.5

Here is a typical dialog box that shows up whenever I either change to the default interface from the classic or vice versa. The fans increase in speed during this changeover, so something is taking up a lot of processor power for what should be a simple task.

I have to stop whatever script is hogging the processor and close then re-open the window as is normal when changing interfaces; the stalled script problem still shouldn't happen though.
Default then works OK but it is much slower than the classic interface.

The only reason I use default with the artwork showing is the ability to drag tracks around in playlists without having to use up/down arrows. Once I have sorted the playing order and saved the playlist, I then revert to Classic.

The default interface looks great but it is much too slow on my Mac at any rate.

What does it say? It's so small, I can't read it.

    Hi michael

Click on the link I provided above the picture and it will display a full size image.

I can't embed images inline for some reason my IMG code is off in my profile and I can't activate it.

Not a very useful comment, but it works fine here on an Intel Mac mini with 10.5 in both Safari and Firefox.

to add a (maybe) useless comment, too but nonetheless: works fine here with 10.5/safari on a MacBook Pro. And this is access going through a slow (max 192kbit) VPN-connection.

    kind regards,

Do you often see this message? That's new to me... what Safari version is this?

    Hi Michael

The Safari version I am using is 3.2.1 on OSX 10.5.5 build 9F33

Computer is 2GHz iMac G5 (1st version without the camera) with 2GB memory.

I didn't have this problem with version 7.1 of the SqueezeCenter but have had this trouble
since 7.2 came out. and only with Safari. Firefox works with no problem, but the slowness persists whichever browser I use.

I went back to Slimserver 6.5.5 at one point because I was so fed up with the Squeezecenter.
    I'm contemplating doing that again.

Sounds like some stale JS is loaded from your browser's cache. Make sure
you wipe Safari's cache and fully reload SC.
