I have just installed squeezecenter on a new WHS machine and I can't connect to it using softsqueeze on my PC. The following set ups do work:
1 - squeezebox connecting to WHS
2 - softsqueeze connecting to squeezecenter on my PC
So I'm guessing it's some soft of security / parameter setting that I need to tweak to let softsqueeze connect. When I go into settings within softsqueeze and try to select the WHS box as the source, softsqueeze just freezes. I can't select softsqueeze from within the squeezecenter instance running on the whs box either.
Any ideas?
thanks

It looks like the WHS box has the same firewall settings as the PC (slimserver is installed on both) - so the both allow the standard squeezecenter services. If the WHS box is blocking softsqueeze - can I allow that on the WHS box if the program isn't running on that machine? :?

For what it's worth, I can connect with SoftSqueeze on my PC to SqueezeCenter running on my WHS. I don't recall doing anything special to enable it.

Err - I think so...
Going into Settings on softsqueeze, the WHS box is showing as a music source - but when I select it softsqueeze shows "Please Wait, Connecting to Slim Server." and just seems to freeze. So it seems like softsqueeze is seeing the server ok but the problem is in the connection.
I tried turning the firewalls on both the PC and server off - no difference. Also I tried connecting using softsqueeze from a laptop on the same network with the same results. hmmmm
So it makes me think it's a question of settings on the server which is odd as my squeezebox connects fine. Any other ideas???
thanks!

Ok - interestingly I just reinstalled softsqueeze from the link in the browser window when squeezecenter was running and it now works fine.
One thing I was wondering - I did this using IE instead of firefox that I usually use - that's the only thing that I can think of was different..... oh well - happy it's working now. cheers for the ideas.
