Alarm Problems

I am having problems with the alarms on my 2 SB booms. Have searched for answer but not found one.

Do I have to have squeezecenter running for the alarms to work?

I have set up alarms for Mon/Wed/Fri and Tues/Thurs each with different time which do not go off at correct time. Any advice on how to fix this would be appreciated.
