Hi
This question might sound odd to some of you. I'm thinking of getting a Boom for my bedroom. However, being a bedroom, I want play my music at low volume. I wonder how good the sound quality is the Boom when it plays at very low volume.
My experience with my iPod playdock is that when I turn the volume way down, the music sound very muddy to the point that it loses all the details.
Please share your experience. Thanks.
Thanaset

The Boom does some very funky things to the audio at different volume levels.
Have a look at the whitepaper written by Caleb Crome, the DSP and audio designer for the Boom.

The bedroom is one of the main markets for the Boom as far as I can tell. A lot of work has gone into making it as usable as possible in this area.

How Loud?
Perhaps I'm a bit biased, but I think it sounds quite good at low volumes
:-) If there is any particular problem that you discover, we can certainly
take a look at it and see what can be improved. It's all under software
control.

Caleb,
You may be a bit biased, but you should be proud. The Boom excels in natural music presentation at low to middle volumes compared with any other products I have come across. It is not a replacement HiFi, but very pleasantly balanced.
As the volumes get high and the bass is reduced in proportion to volume, the music is pleasant, but as the old saying goes "you can't get a quart out of a pint pot".
My boom has happily been used in various environments - it is the best product for its size I have come across. It's pricepoint is very agressive.
Congratulations to the Slim team for a job well done.
Regards
David

a "craigslist" subwoofer is a modestly priced enhancement
I would concur with others comments that the Boom is a well designed and sonically pleasing device even at low volumes. Mine is in my bedroom and I added a "craigslist" subwoofer, then found myself listening to my music much more often in my bedroom with the volume between 50-80. For alarm use and listening while I am lying in bed, then the volume is between 20-45.
"craigslist" subwoofer is vernacular for a modestly priced, $30-$60, generally used item that is procured locally.

agreed
I too listen to music more in the bedroom. It's fantastic for this.

Great at low volume
As far as I'm concerned low volume playback is the Boom's forte. I purchased one for my technophobe girlfriend. She absolutely loves it. Sounds good listening to that Paris jazz station while going to sleep and then waking to a S.F Dance station in the morning (92.7) even though I'm in L.A.
