Program To Conver .wav To Wma Lossless Or Flac

Ok I spent over 2 weeks dumping in my cd collection (1600) & (yes in wav) to
my computer to find that .wav files are not tag friendly. i did used the wmp
option to fimd album info during the process. all cover art/info etc shows
    up in wmp

Is ther a program someone can suggest that can convert these files on my
harddrive into flac or wma lossless and tag them.

    Thanx!

Flac (or more properly flac) will do it.
    What OS are you using?
When you install flac on Windows, it includes FlacFrontEnd, which
converts and can set the tags if you stored the files in a semi-rational
    file structure, such as
    c:\songs\
with separate subdirectories for genre, artist, and album.
    So if you have c:\songs\rock\wilco\yankee_hotel_foxtrot
all you have to do is drag and drop.

It takes a while, but you can start it and go to bed.

If you picked WAV because you wanted the highest quality possible them I'm afraid you didn't pick the right ripper either. WMP doesn't do secure rips like EAC and dBPowerAmp do.
Yes, it will. Yes, all of them. Yes, SoftSqueeze as well. What ?
I SAID ALL OF THEM !

Ok so how exactly does the “FlacFrontEnd” work with a drag and drop? (how do I verify Tag info? Will I have to go through and verify?) Is dbpoweramp converter better…? Can it be automatic?

    Again I am organized Artist/album/track

Am I best to just do it all over with dbpoweramp as a flac?

I don’t really want to spent all this tiem again but I want it done correct!

Will windows media center allow me to play and add to library

If you want the best possible quality (and tagging), yes I am afraid the best thing to do is start over with dbpoweramp.

You fire up Windows Explorer or any other gui file display, grab the
song objects, as you would to copy them, and drop them in the
    FlacFrontEnd window.

    Repeat as necessary.

They I think there is a button to start the processing

Its free, just download and try.

I'm not sure what you mean by verify? You can do an album, and see how
it works. include the album in your SqueezeCenter library, do a rescan,
    and see that its done.

I've never had a problem in 600+ CDs.

I have never touched dbpoweramp, so I can't compare flac to it

DbPowerAmp Music Converter (not the ripper) has a batch encode function
that can convert a whole drive at once. AFAIK the free version is enough
to convert WAV to FLAC format. It's quite fast since it uses both CPU's
if you have a Core Duo processor.

Don't mess around with drag and dropping.

    Peter
