Okay ...
I'm a little frustrated about this, so i'll try to be succint:
1. I have a Squeezebox Boom, connecting to a PC
2. In setting it up, I made it all the way to 'Connect to Squeezenetwork (4 of 5)
3. It just idles there doing nothing not connecting.
4. I know it sees my computer and my music library because it's all visible.
5. Does this device have a PIN? I couldn't find one. I tried all the numbers on the bottom of the unit to no avail.
6. I have turned off my firewall from my McAfee Security center and my windows firewall is off as well.
Hopefully someone can help me through this last step.

setup
Just want to say hello, I guess.
I rebooted the device and went through the setup steps again and it solved the problem.
It updated itself twice with new firmware, so maybe there was a technical snag somewhere.

"SqueezeNetwork" is the online version of the "SqueezeCenter" software. That was probably the hangup, you should have selected the "SqueezeCenter" server instead of "SqueezeNetwork". There may be a problem with the factory firmware and SqueezeNetwork. I don't know if the "factory" version exists anywhere outside of Logitech's servers to try reproducing the test.
Glad you got it working, hope you like the Boom.

Loving it ...
I just want to say that after 6 hours of messing with this I'm blown away. I had the Duet system, but had tossed it into a closet because I never thought it sounded any good. I suspected that the router was bad. Anyways, I've pulled out the cool remote that comes with the duet and the system found it immediately. I'm very impressed.
But, here's a question I have now concerning my library:
I have 3800 complete albums on my external HDD, which I'm successfully serving from. When I go into the folders though, maybe only one of the songs shows up, thus my library is massively incomplete. Is there a reason why for this behaviour and a fix to straighten out my library.

Also ...
Is there a way that I can use the boombox exclusively for my laptop, as it's connected to my laptop, as regular speakers, doing away with my speakers that I'm currently using? I would like to have music from youtube, etc via my browser be channeled through the boom box.

Connect Boom line-in to your laptop speaker out.
Alternatively the WaveInput plugin will give you flexibility but has a slight delay and no direct connections between laptop and Boom.

If you go into the Server settings part of the Squeezecenter web UI, you'll find some settings for changing the logging setup. I'd say you might need to increase the scanner logging level and talk to tech support about your missing tracks.
The existing scanner log file might already have some info on why tracks are being excluded but poor tagging or incompatible files ( e.g. DRM protected iTunes tracks) are the most likely culprits.
The scanner log file can also be viewed through a link in the WebUi.

There is a bug with this feature in 7.2.0 which causes the line-in-always-on
to turn off when you press the power off or pause button. This will be
fixed in a future release. (Maybe already fixed, but I can't recall).
