    Can't connect to URL

Hi all, last night I tried to connect ( with a TP ) to a URL http://www.bbcri.com.au/bbfm-live.m3u using the web interface and received a message saying cannot open url ( or something along those lines ) however , if I use my pc's web browser it connects and plays fine ? Also, I couldn't find a way to enter the url using the remote - can anyone help ?

The URL you have given is the playlist, you need to drill down into it to get the actual url. Haven't tested this on Squeezecenter, but try:

    http://bbfm.shoalhaven.net.au:8000/listen

    or

    http://bbfm.shoalhaven.net.au:8000/
    Who am I on LAST.FM?

Ok thanks I'll try again, is there a way of entering a url via the TP's remote ?

I don't think so. You need to enter the url via the webpage, but once it's playing you can save it as a playlist or a favourite via the remote.

    Getting the actual URL

    How do you do that?

Couple of ways. If you start playing the URL in something like Windows Media Player, you can often right click and select Properties and it will give you the streaming url.

However, if the url is obfuscated (intentionally or due to setup) then something like URLSnooper2 will often do the job for you, unless the url is hidden in a flash stream or similar.

Sadly more and more radio stations are using this kind of technology (Stream the World etc) as a way of forcing you to listen via their webpages (normally serving up ads alongside) rather than via http.

I was able to find the url as you suggested for one station, but for others, as you predicted, I could only listen using the web interface.

Is there a way to force WMP as the player, or, alternatively, to be able to tell which streams use it?
