I'd love to see how confused someone would get if they tried to analyse my listening habits
It only scares me a little that I understand.

Both of these were ordered, recieved and now ripped. I just need to copy the Flacs accross to my NAS and re-scan before I can listen to them, I'll probably do that tomorrow. Backing up my PC to the NAS at the moment.

Have you heard When the Haar Rolls In by James Yorkston? There is a definite William Oldham influence there.

What about Smog, aka Bill Callahan?

I'm part way through my first listen of When the Haar Rolls In and like what I've heard so far. It reminded somehow of one of my favorites that I forgot to mention to you. Richard Buckner Try "Bloomed" first. Alt country but a dark tone about the pathos of life after divorce. It's a great album. I watched on youtube a video of bill Callahan in a black cab. I have some of his stuff on the way. Thanks for the tips.

Funkstar where are you? I have another

Have you heard the Silver Jews? American Water. One of the best opening lines in all music in the first song. Very fun band. William Oldman pitched in on an album or two. Great lyrics.

No, thats a new one as well, I'll hunt them out.

btw, the new avatar is from an album cover by The Twilight Sad. They have tracks on their MySpace, very unusual band. They are from Scotland and sing in their local accent. Very dark lyrics, but I really enjoy them.

Good album, I like a lot of the Scottish alternative rock. Lots of sound that works to make the band actually more accessible. Another good one Funkstar.

In that case, hunt out Glasvegas, Arab Strap (not a huge fan personally) and Malcolm Middleton (one half of Arab Strap who I really do like).
