HDtracks are currently offering a free download of "Gibson Presents: Hot Tones in High Definition" album in either AIFF, FLAC or 320 kbps MP3 format with full PDF liner notes.

Horrible. I signed up before learning that Java is required to run their "download manager", so that's a deal-breaker.

I also tried playing some samples of different albums and they all sounded terrible, full of noise and static.

Since download of files and playback of mp3 samples have been solved for decades and work smoothly for thousands of sites, I have to assume HDtracks are incompetent. Either that or their "download manager" does something other than facilitating downloads.

    No thanks.

Why would Java be a deal-breaker?

I downloaded the "Gibson Presents" files in FLAC format from HDTracks with no problems or issues at all. The sound quality, by the way, is great.

At this time, HDtracks only serves people residing in the United States.

Yeah, the music (selling) industry is really going with modern times and also very innovative.

I was able to download it from Australia. Not sure that translates to being able to purchase albums though I'd have thought so.

I've used it for 2 free samplers and it worked fine. The sound quality is great as they should be, being flac files.
If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use is the rule.

The free sampler downloads ok even if you are from Europe.

But buying any tracks is not possible for now, or ever.
I'm a member to HD tracks and sometimes i write an email (probably right to the spam filter) and complain about it.

the download manager IS completely unnecessary so it must be something fishy, why else include an application for something you can accomplish by "right click save as.."
