Question Squeezebox Boom and Squeezecenter on different subnets

The Boom has just hit the stores here in Norway, and I ordered my unit last friday and expect to have it delivered early next week. In the meantime I'm browsing thru the manual just to familiarize myself with the new box. I'm getting the impression that the Boom and Squeezecenter /must/ be connected to the same subnet in order to work - unlike the SB3. Is this the case? If so, why introduce this kind of unnecessary limitation? I've have owned a SB3 for nearly two years now, and have been using it against my Linux-based SC (and its predecessors) both ON the same subnet and on DIFFERENT subnets from the SC. My plan for the Boom is to mainly use it on a different location from the Squeezecenter - just to have access to my (quite large) music collection. Have someone tried this? What kind of tricks proved necessary to have a solution?

It's exactly the same as an SB3 in this respect. You'll just need to
manually enter the IP of your server, since it won't be able to find
it via broadcast on another subnet.

The Quick Start Guide and User's Manual are very misleading on this. The Boom works just like the SB2/3. You can manually enter the IP address for your SC and there is no requirement that it be on the same subnet.

    Wow!

Did you guys just hang around to give me an instant replay? DEEPLY impressed! Thanks for the clarification - in this case I /know/ the new box will serve me well. The User Manual/Quick start should perhaps be slightly rewritten on this topic? It's quite dim/misleading on this point.

    Thnx a lot!
