    Disgusted with 7.2

I am a long-time customer, currently own 4 Squeezeboxes. I have been a fan of Slimdevices and recommended these products to many friends and family.

With 7.2, I have found my significant investment unusable. The bugs and lack of communication about the bugs is absolutely disgraceful. Scanner crashes and inability for Squeezecenter to restart reliably have pretty much eliminated our use of our Squeezeboxes.

I am running the current, updated version of Windows XP, on a Dell, using ITunes as my library. That is the very definition of the most common setup used in the United States. To release software with such glaring, critical bugs and not do anything about it is just inexcusable.

When will Slimdevices be releasing fixes? Do not suggest I review my ITunes libraries to search for filetypes this release is suddenly choking on. That's not my job -- that's Slimdevices job.

    Maybe

if you said "profoundly dissatisfied" rather than "disgusted" you might find more sympathy from forum contributors. Just a thought

I hope you feel better after the venting, but if you want SD/Logi to do something about it you need to give some specifics. Obviously they are working on 7.2.1 and 7.3 -- which bugs (see bugs.slimdevices.com) are you referring to in particular?

Scanner crashes are often caused by your antivirus - what does the scanner.log say? Post up the error messages and we may be able to narrow the problem down for you. Settings/Status

The other thing is that you can revert to an earlier version of SC or even Slimserver at anytime. Sounds like it would be a good option for you just at the moment.

If you find that 7.2 is so "buggy" then as an alternative why don't you go back to 7.0 or 7.1, whilst this is not ideal, are there any burning issues that 7.2 was providing that 7.0/7.1 was not?

Personally I haven't upgraded to 7.2, 7.1 is working for me and I haven't come across anything that I can't do as yet.

As has been said, be specific or no one can help. I ran 7.2 on XP for a while (although I don't anymore) and never had any issues. Help us to help you

Same here : running 7.2 for about a month on WHS and no problem whatsoever. Please be more precise about the problems you encounter.

    >That is the very definition of the most common setup used in the United States<

But perhaps not for customers of Slimdevices who are well aware of the limitations (DRM) and lock-in of Apple's offerings.

This is incorrect in my case - I have no antivirus on my mac and I cannot downgrade because I own the Boom which must use 7.2

I would love to hear more about when 7.2.1 will come out as a couple scanner bugs seem to be fixed (at least in the bug tracker).

Sorry you are having troubles. With the exception of iTunes we have very similar setups. Multiple SB devices, SC7.2, WinXP SP3 (SP2 when updated to SC7.2), laptop as server, router.
Absolutely no issues with SC starting up with computer, scans seem fine.

I believe SC had numerous issues with anti-virus programs as it was a completely different program than the old SS. I know my anti-virus threw up a couple warnings, but it got over it.

I bring this up to suggest you may want to temporarily disable or turn off your anti-virus program and firewall, then re-boot everything, try re-scanning again. Disconnect your router from the internet if security concerns you with no anti-virus or firewall running.

    Worth a shot.
