    That Tiny Remote

I have just received my SBB today and I'm just having a play with it.

Is there any easy way to navigate through long lists of, for example, artists using the remote?

The thing is, with the SB3 remote you can use the number buttons to skip to a letter of the alphabet and the there is similar functionality on the SBC. With this tiny remote it seems to take ages to find the artist and then album I'm interested in. Unless I've missed something?!

    Thanks

    Try using the knob instead?

I gave up with the little remote a long time ago and now use the conventional SB3 remote. It's much more convenient.

    Thanks for the reply.

Thats a shame, maybe they should have just packaged it with the old remote. Or maybe the new remote could have been slightly larger with numbered buttons.

It scrolls through artists faster than anything else I'd care to have in my pocket during a party, and I appreciate that it added yet another way of controlling my players, when I wouldn't have thought it possible. Beyond the standard remote you could also use a Controller, Web interface, Harmony, phone... knob :-)

That said there does seem to be an issue with scrolling acceleration when using the remote. The first artist scroll through from A-Z of my ~400 albums took 10 seconds, and it seemed like the fastest scrolling never kicked in. Subsequent scrolling from A-Z only took 5 seconds with the fastest acceleration kicking in more quickly. This was repeatable after each time Boom was powered off.

Yup you're right - my first post was after I first tried it. As far as I saw there was no faster scrolling. I have just tried it again and now faster scrolling seems to be happening now when I hold the button down. Tanks!

Another thing you can do... if you use the Custom Browse plugin, you can create a menu for Artists by letter, which will add an extra level to select the first letter of the alphabet and then go to artists starting with that letter.

As the Boom is my bedside device I almost always use it when I'm in bed, which means I am close to it and can see the display (so do not require the controllers display). For this situation I prefer the conventional remote over the controller as I am able to access music/menus faster (due to the remote having many more buttons). The remote is also generally more reliable than my controllers.
