Subwoofer ideas

So I figured I would start a thread on what subs would be a good match.

The first idea that comes to mind is the AudioEngine S8. (250W)

Another one would be the Definitive Technology ProSub 800 (300W)

Bother are probably overkill, but about as small as they come.

Now, if only some manufacturer of those computer speaker systems that come with subwoofers would market a "stand alone" sub for the Boom. Hmmm...now what company could do that? (oh yeah - make it a good one).

Good shout, something I'd definitely be interested in. Obviously some good subs out there, but would be nice something custom made for the system with the usual squeezable quality....

Which ones?
Most PC speakers still have bass reflex systems, don't they? Not really high end...

I think the question really is which smaller powered sub is a *match* for the Boom. Does it have to be high end? Probably not. Something you might consider high end would more than likely be overkill for the size and output of the boom.

A $70-$100 powered sub is probably more than adequate. A person could probably use any of the PC speaker packages and only use the powered sub and be pretty happy.

Something like a YST-SW216BL or SA-W2500 might be sufficient. Hard to know until you try it out.

Agree, for the kind of sub needed, probably not a bad shout to look at the usual models from a couple of years ago. Generally about half price and maybe worth a dabble....

Though we could always wait for the Slimdevices Bang & Boom combo....
