Just another quckie question on the WOL feature. The Netgear Readynas requires the WOL packet to start up the NAS from a cold 'off' as the NAS won't be in standby so to speak but will be turned off with power connected from the mains. Does this make sense and can the WOL packet start up a NAS from cold?

No idea. The question is: does ReadyNAS support WOL or not? If it does, it will even wake up when off as long as it's connected to Ethernet and has power, that's how WOL works.

Playback issue
I've got the following issue, unfortunately I didn't notice when it started exactly:
I can connect to my Squeezebox remotely over the internet and I used to be able to listen to my music with iPeng (both on iPad and iPhone) wherever in the world I was. Recently I noticed that the player within iPeng doesn't appear in the device list when I connect over the internet, accessing the Server from within my wireless it works as before. Doesn't matter if the connection is over 3G or wireless.
No problem to control the hardwareplayers from anywehre.
Any suggestions?

Does it still work when you are on your local network?
Did you change any of the port forwarding options? Especially: do you still forward port 3483 and is port 9001 (I assume that's what you use on the Synology?) also forwarded to port 9001 externally and not something else?---

Thanks for the reply, I checked the portforwardings before but it seems not thorough enough.
I was forwarding 3843 instead of 3483, fingertrouble it was after I changed my routers os.
Thanks for the reply and your great work.

Renaming a song creates duplicate entry
I've found that if I clean up my library and rename a song, a duplicate song is created in my iPeng playlists. For example, I recently renamed the song "The Private Life Of Bill And Sue" to "The Private Life of Bill and Sue" (simply changed the caps on two words) and now it shows up twice in my playlist for that album. I've found a clear and rescan clears up the problem, but do I have to clear and rescan my entire (huge) library for every name tweak??

I don't know, I'm seeing the issue with recent versions of LMS, too.
It's completely unrelated to iPeng, though, you will see the same behavior in all other interfaces, it's the server.
A "look for new and changed music" _should_ be enough but cleaning up the library doesn't always seem to work correctly.
You could file a bug at bugs.slimdevices.com---

I've noticed this too FWIW. I have an auto-"new & changed" rescan scheduled every night and it usually corrects itself overnight, and at worst after the second night (scan).
FWIW: I've also noticed a strange issue with the time tracking (for each track) that displays in iPeng is all out of whack, which has also started recently same as the above. BUT I'm assuming this is an LMS related issue too and/or is due to my recent change to Vortexbox (or perhaps at the extreme the network connectivity to the VBx - I'm using ethernet over power line adapter for it rather than a wi-fi-bridge). I haven't had to time to investigate properly and see whether the issue replicates on my SB Touch too. My suspicion was it's LMS for Linux EXCEPT The issue doesn't happen in LMS control panel in a web browser on a PC or Laptop - only in iPeng on my iPads and my iPhone. Note I've got 2 iPads (a 2 and a 3) and if I have iPengHD open on both and LMS CP in a web browser on my Win7 laptop both iPads' iPeng track time is in sync (with each other) but is out of sync with the LMS in the web browser & reality which is correct in LMS CP - all 3 devices are using Wi-Fi back to router, then ethernet over power to the VBx.
My VBx is running LMS Version 7.7.2 - r33908 (this is dated March but it has been updated since I built the server in May so I assume this is the latest Linux version of LMS?) and the iPads are running iPengHD 1.3.2 - I need to investigate this more to verify where the source of the issue is but thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else has seen it (as it seems it may be an iPeng/VBx combination issue) or in case it's a known general issue?
Any thoughts or suggestions Pippin? I'm planning to test with using iPeng to control by SqBx Touch instead of Vortex Player, and also test switching (back) to LMS & Library on my Win7 PC that I was using previously to see if problem continues or not...

It's a scanner issue. I can't tell whether it's Linux related, my server is running on Linux, too (Ubuntu), and sometimes has the problem, too.
A "clear & rescan" usually helps.---
