Indeed.
Your old setup probably had the 3rd party plugin installed and the new one not yet, you'll find it under "Plugins" in the server's settings---

Now that y'all mention it, I don't specifically remember using the official Logitech Spotify app to listen on my iPad. I also have the Spotify app for iPad on my mini. I bet that's what I've been using to listen to Spoyify on my iPad.

+1 :-). I also thought about buying a new Apple TV to use it as a squeezebox player and ofcourse more, regarding what iPeng will be able to do with and on the TV :-).

I seriously doubt there will be any. It uses HDMI, everything else will be wrapped in CoreAudio, even for iOS you'll have to digg around and talk to a lot of Apple devs until you really understand them.
I'd expect it to support multichannel (5.1) audio, though, that was added to the capabilities of iOS this year and iOS doesn't use it...---

Yes, the new TV unfortunatly dosnn't have an optical output anymore, only HDMI :-(. I don't know, if an optical output would be better and it would be possible to play music without losing sound quality, maybe there are the same issues Pippin mensioned before.

That makes the new Apple TV virtually useless to me, a shame. My amp doesn't do HDMI audio and attempts to get the TV to accept audio over HDMI and output it from it's optical have had mixed results.Comment

Aren't there enough HDMI-to-TOSLINK converters or things like that?
Or can't they be used due to DRM?---

The majority make no statement at all about this, so who knows. I can't face the effort of finding out.Comment

Well, a normal audio stream should not necessarily be HDPC protected. Protected content should not play through such a converter or it's a pirated one, it's the primary license requirement that you cannot get decoded, unprotected digital versions of the protected stream...---
