Could you try to find out whether playback resumes if you change the volume using the volume keys?

No, that doesn't make any difference.

Left the app in focus, playing for c. 10 mins.
Screen dims, then blanks. Playback stops shortly afterwards.
    Volume buttons make no difference.
Reactivated via home button, swipe / enter 4 digit unlock PIN.
iPeng still in focus, no sound, no "playing" top row icon (next to battery state) but with playback timer incrementing and iPeng Play / Pause control showing "Pause" (eg iPeng thinks it's in Playback mode?).
tapping play/pause control changes visible state of control and stops / starts playtime counter but no sound & no "playing" top row icon.
suspending / activating iPeng via hardware button / iPeng icon returns scrub bar playback position to start of track (as pressed at initial start of playback) and pressing "Play" now restores playing / sound from start of track.

As I said, I can't say for certain that this wasn't happening prior to iOS5 upgrade?

That sounds pretty much exactly like what I'm hearing from the other user.
Which server version do you use an - more important - on what server hardware?

One more question: Does it keep playing if iPeng is in the background (if you go to the home screen before the screen saver kicks in)?

    Server environment is:

    Version: 7.6.1 - r33110 @ Wed Aug 17 18:50:10 PDT 2011
    Hostname: xxxxxxx
    Server IP Address: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
    Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
    Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8
    Platform Architecture: i686-linux
    Perl Version: 5.10.1 - i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi
    Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)
    Total Players Recognized: 4

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server - <3% CPU utilisation, lots of free memory, zero swap usage

    Supermicro Dual core Atom Motherboard.

    No issues on other players (2 x SB3, 1 x Boom, 1 x Squeezeplay on O2 / Openpeak Joggler)

    Also.....

Native iPod stored music playback works fine, as does Streaming Radio app (now listening to Radio Paradise AAC 128kbps stream via Tunemark Radio app)

Sorry, was typing last answer. Yes, playback continues from Home screen (with Playing icon at top) but playback will still stop after Device Lock.

    Also....

Playback will stop about thirty seconds (EDIT - to one minute - seems to vary..) after pressing device lock button (at top of iPod). Only just discovered this - easier to reproduce this way rather than waiting for Lock timeout!

OK, so when the device locks while you are on the home screen playback stops?
    Interesting.

Yes, playback will stop 30-60 secs after lock, triggered either by timeout or via lock button. State of iPeng (in foreground or background) makes no difference.

Have not run full range of tests but was getting similar results running the iPeng iPhone / iPod Touch app on an iPad 2 (borrowed from work, so didn't want to get the proper iPad app - sorry!)

Ah. That's interesting, too, because the other user reported that the iPad version works fine.
    ...
Not that I thought that there are any differences between the Apps WRT playback.

I also wonder why I just can't reproduce this, my server configuration is very similar to yours so I think I can rule out the server. My iPhone however, is similar to the other user's so what does that mean...
