I don't know if you already know, but the volume popup bug isn't quite as simple as you describe. It also occurs if you have recently muted and unmuted your iPhone.

    So for example:

    - mute phone
    - unmute phone
    - open iPeng
    - press the home button

Result: volume popup appears and volume is increased.

I expect you already know this, but thought I'd make sure.
Yes, it will. Yes, all of them. Yes, SoftSqueeze as well. What ?
I SAID ALL OF THEM !

Hmmm, looks like it is actually worse than I just described. Once I have trigged the bug, I can't stop it happening with killing iPeng. It keeps popping up and increasing the volume each time, even with mute off and even if I try changing the volume, in say the iPod app.

Try changing the volume on the home screen (of the iPhone) to e.g. 10% and leave it there. The volume should probably change one more time but then stay there.

    What's "very poor" in numbers?
Do you leave iPeng open all the time (behind the screen saver)? Which menus do you use most in iPeng?

I think I've nailed that one, just to be sure....

Hi, just to let you know updated vortexbox via it's gui so have squeeze server 7.6.1, and done same on touch itself, reinstalled ipeng set volumes and seems fine, still get iPad vol control pinging up but no adjustment in volume and the app update icon seems fine too at moment.

Well I turn ipeng on and leave it, don't know if you can put it to sleep when finished , usually just navigate away and get on with other stuff, will monitor battery and get some figures.

    Cheers pippin, help appreciated.

Nope. Changing the volume on the home screen changes the ringer volume, unless you are very quick and press the volume buttons as the audio popup is still showing.

Changing either the ringer or audio volume does not stop iPeng from popping the volume on switching away. The only way I have found of stopping iPeng from popping the volume on exit is to kill it. Which fixes it until next time I use the mute switch, unfortunately I use the mute switch a lot

No, that wasn't what I meant: the overlay will still show.
But it should no longer alter the volume of a player in iPeng.

If you use playback in iPeng, get used to the overlay showing up, in this case it's there to stay

Not if you turn it off in iPeng's settings but as long as it's just the power state it won't make a difference.
You can change the volume of a Squeezebox while it's off.
