I see it now, you're right... That directory is set in the Shell/module.rc and is passed to the server when it's beeing started. Try removing the following line in module.rc:

    --playlistdir $SLIM_PLAYLISTDIR \

I only have 2 m4a files someone sent me and they seem to work fine. Can you send me some files which are causing problems? Was there a solution found before?

No solution was found before - I think it may be a faad version issue as it appeared when I switched from Andreas' module to yours.
See post#113 in this thread for a couple of links to other mentions of this issue.
I'll find a quiet track that shows the problem easily & email it to you - it's around the same level as tape hiss so isn't very noticeable on louder tracks.

Does the 7.3.1 module require uninstall/install from the N5200 module interface, or can it be untar'd and copied over the 7.3 module?

I think the Onbeat wiki mentioned at some point you'd be able to just copy the new files over the previous version, and I'm asking if that point has been reached. I'd rather not uninstall the old one.

You should be able to just untar it over the old one. However, don't use the module file in that case, just download the latest perl source, and replace the contents of squeezecenter directory inside the module. You should remove the CPAN directory inside squeezecenter, update convert.conf, copy Custom.pm and fix HTTP.pm (check the wiki for details).

m4a playback should finally work out of the box.

    Enjoy.
Thank you for your work and efforts in updating the module. 7.3.1 works much better on my system and corrects a few significant bugs I was living with. Oversize album art on my music library and playback at the Controller being the 2 bugs that were irksome.

    Hi

Would someone be kind enough to make the 7.3.1 module available for download from a place other than rapidshare...my downloads from rapidshare always timeout and I suspect this problem lies with my ISP, which will likely take a lot of cajoling on my part to have them address.

    thx egd
