"I'd guess this is in part for better acoustics"
Or maybe something to do with reflections affecting the VFD?
I have a wall mounted SB3 and it was originally set with a vertical screen at eye level then I had to adjust slightly to reduce glare.
I also have one in a custom enclosure in my sun room/conservatory and its very hard to read sometimes with background light/reflections.
Its not all bad though, it gives me an excuse to get a controller. ;-)Custom mini itx server in a 1940s radio case, currently being revamped to add XBMC, Acer Revo as a stand-in. Favourite 7,500 tracks on the Touch USB server.
Kitchen --- SB3>Aego M
Conservatory --- >SB3 (custom case)>Musical Fidelity Tempest>Canon S50
Lounge---SB Touch>yamaha 863>Kef3005SE\Sennheiser RS 170
Bedroom---SB3>Audioengine A3
Bathroom---Radio, now work in progress
Gaming room/roving commission---Boom
Control---Ipeng on Iphone,Pod and Pad

Two exciting views of a BOOM in a kitchen. Thrilling stuff eh?
I think the remote is trying to escape.
Check out those knives in the corner. I nearly chopped an entire finger off the other day when I mistook it for a leek.

Good idea with the photos of the Boom, so non-ownwers (for the time being) can get a good idea about its' size.
Is it really that small??

That Depends on what it's compared to!
Depends on what your definition of small is! But as many of us have said, we can't believe how good it sounds for how small it is.

Does it have rubber feet on the bottom so as not to slide around when pushing buttons? Also, I notice in several of the pictures that it seems to be a fingerprint magnet.
