If any of the Beta testers also happen to have a Bose wave radio, I would welcome feedback on sound quality of the Boom vs the Bose.
I have an SB3 balanced on top of a wave radio in my kitchen, looks scrappy, gathers dust and gets knocked over from time to time. I would like to replace it with a Boom, but dont want to sacrifice sound quality. The white paper looks encouraging but the proof of the pudding is in the listening.
Thanks in advance for any comments.

We did internal testing of Squeezebox Boom and several other products, single blind where the test subject did not know what was playing the music...
The Boom handily beat the Bose, which actually came in last for sound quality.

What about the Meridian F80?
I am almost afraid to ask this one, was the Meridian F80 one of the boxes compared in the blind tests? If so what was the result?
I bought the F80 which was almost 10X the cost of the Boom, I thought it would have been perfect with the Slim magic built in.
Now I read the Boom spec and a lot of it looked similar to the F80.Main System:
Source: Mac-Mini/Pure Music/dCS Debussy
Amplification: Vitus Audio SS-010
Speakers: Living Voice OBX-R2
Bedroom System: Airport Express + Meridian AD88

What, you didn't test against a boutique product that costs at least ten
times as much??!!? One that probably will never sell as many units in
its product life as the Boom has today, the first day its available. For
shame.
Next you are likely to say that the $300 Boom doesn't have ten coats of
hand rubbed lacquer finish either.

I don't know the WaveRadio, but I do own a Bose Companion 3 2.1 PC Speaker system I have connected to a SBR to get sound into a room where I didn't have space for bigger satellites. A System that sells at the price of Boom, even without the SBR!
And even for my wooden ears, it's a mess!
I didn't try Boom with a subwoofer and I can't take the speakers apart, but the sound of boom is WAY better than that of the Bose system. If I could only take those little speakers off I would immediately replace that other system with this.
No, Boom REALLY sounds good. And it doesn't even have this American-Way-Bass-Emphasis :-))
OK, at that form factor...---
