SC and Controller: Not the same Artists

I have ~1000 CD ripped as FLAC and am trying to resolve some tagging issues.

In SC if I view Bob Dylan, for instance, there are a dozen discs, including some compilation albums on which he contributed one or two tracks (e.g. Wonder Boys soundtrack). All fine. I can live with this.

On the controller these same dozen discs appear PLUS another dozen discs on which a single Bob Dylan tune is covered by another artist (e.g Joan Osborne or Robyn Hitchcock). The Tags (I use MP3Tag)show Bob Dylan as the COMPOSER for this tune, but the ARTIST tag is clearly the artist covering the Dylan tune. These are not compilation albums, nor are they marked as such.

This situation exists for many other artists in the Controller view, but not the SC view. How do I solve this?

I have the same problem, SBC shows a multiple entries when (at least) COMPOSER, CONDUCTOR and PERFORMER tags are present, generating repeated entries in the Album and New Music lists for each unique tag value.

It still seems odd to me that the SC is seeing different tags than the Controler.

Is the solution to remove composer and performer tags? Does one need to set the contents of the composer and performer tags to 0? It seems weird to actively change contents of tags that I didn't populate in the first place.

TBH I'm assuming it's a bug that'll get fixed at some point. I'm not too bothered as I use Erland's excellent CustomBrowse to give 'deep' browse on the SBC for Artists and Albums, i.e. you get an A-Z first, and there's no problem with repeats on New Albums.
