I didn'tmeasure but it was definitely noticeable in the end I'm afraid the delay was infinite due to the fact that the solution stopped working the next day after a reboot of the PC... Since pulseaudio is required for Skype and I also experienced difficulties with Unity I restored the original pulseaudio settings which of course made it impossible for wavin.

Thus I diverted to a streaming mechanism using VLC described here: http://confoundedtech.blogspot.de/20...x-without.html.

    Anyhow, thank you once more!

Thanks for this great plugin. I'll use it to integrate an old Wega turntable into my PCP ecosystem. Got it to work without any problem - once I had noticed, after hours of testing, logging, debugging... that it's not "wavein:..." but "wavin:..."
Works with my cheap USB adapter, but it has only mono line-in. Tomorrow, I'll get myself a USB soundcard with stereo line-in.
    Best regards

Is it possible to modify the URL in a way that allows it to be invoked from another LMS/Squeezelite? The background is that I‘ve one Raspi with PCP/LMS for streaming good old vinyl via Waveinput, and another Raspi with PCP/LMS for everything else (i.e. local media from an attached HDD, Spotty, radio). It would be nice if the Wavein stream could be started from the second Raspi by simply selecting a Favourite, without having to change the music source and moving the players from one source to another.
    Thanks and best regards

LMS and plugins can only do things within the system iut is running - you are asking for plugin to reach into a second system and mess with internals just with an URL !!

It might be possible - but you need to set up the audio to be networked from one system to a second using something like pulseaudio - this is not a LMS or plugin issue. Be warned it can be hard work to get wavinput to work with pulseaudio.

It might be simpler for you to create a http/MP3 stream from your audio source using somehting like VLC this can be then be played by any audio strreamer - including LMS.

Thanks - I was afraid that it wouldn't be that easy as to put a http://192... in front of wavinput:...

That's more or lesse where I come from. I am wondering whether to try the Icecast way again (https://iotsblog.wordpress.com/2016/...to-squeezebox/ ). Already had it running, but wasn't able to get it stable. Or perhaps the high end version (lossless flac streaming with LiquidSoap) from https://iotsblog.wordpress.com/2016/...nyl-streaming/
    Will report!

I always found VLC easy to create/start/stop http MP3 streams.

If lossless is what you want - then I think pulseaudio may be the way to go as the streaming lossless solution requires a lot of applications in a mashup. That said, pulseaudio can be very very frustrating.

Why not put all audio onto same LMS as waveinput plugin ? either a copy or through a network share ?

The network share way is a good idea! I could attach the USB HDD directly to the router. However, the Raspi used to stream the vinyl can only access the network via wifi (the one I use now as the main LMS is attached via ethernet) - not sure whether this would be a disadvantage, but for sure it's worth giving it a try.

LMS server connected by wifi is rarely a good idea. Why put USB HDD on router (usually big security risks as often router vendro s/w is not great) - unless music size is TB's why not put a copy directly on Raspi - disk / flash drive aren't expensive.

Well, all my routers are FritzBox devices from AVM, a German company known for the extraordinary work they do with firmware updates, so I don‘t have security concerns in this area (beside the normal ones, cf. WPA crack...).

I‘ve thought about this, and as I happen to have a unused 128 GB card on my desk... but even so the wavein Raspi would depend on Wifi. Of course I could have the LMS on another Raspi attached via ethernet and define the media as network share on the wavein Raspi. But then I have to admit that I have no idea about the data flow between LMS, the physical storage place of the media and the players. Where is it important to have ethernet connection?
    Best regards
    Martin

PS. I‘ve spent a couple of hours today trying to get the flac streaming to work, with Alsa and Stretch. Well, I got SOME sound SOMEtimes... still a long way. And yes: Pulseaudio might cause deep depressions, I remember having spent hours and hours some time ago to get Bluetooth working (had to surrender in the end, as so many others)
