MusicIP mixes inconsistencies

I tried to start a MusicIP mix from the WebUI by navigating to song info for a song, and clicking the "M" MusicIP Mix icon.

The song I picked was 1. Living Well Is The Best Revenge by R.E.M. from Accelerate.

I tried several times to generate a mix from this song, and MusicIP mix only found a couple of tracks that were suitable each time. I was suprised by that - was expecting a lot of songs.

I tried to generate a mix from the mix icon for the same song from the list of songs on the album, and it produced a much fuller mix.

Does the song info mix button work with different mix settings?

In trying that, now I can't repeat the issue! I'm getting similar great mixes both ways, which is good.

I noticed a few curiosities In the log though. I often see:

Not sure what the difference in Cacheid's means; my headless MusicIP server cache seems to be up to date. I saw this quite a lot, but not every time I tried to start a mix.

I also notice one case where the mix was "album", but can't repeat it:

I also noticed that the album display when I click on the album from Browse New Music has Play and Add action buttons. But if I navigate to the album any other way, I get Play, Add and TrackStat actions. The difference is in the hyperlinks to the page.

I guess that hierarchy=age is correct for New Music browsing, and that there is some problem with TrackStat?

I just noticed that in recent 7.1 builds the MusicIP plugin is not picking up tracks with extended characters in the path or file name. I don't know when this started as my MusicIP mixes are long and I was not counting the number of tracks in the mixes. Below is an example of the error messages I'm getting in the server log. Note that the error message is expressed correctly with extended characters in the log. The path and file it refers to exist in the library.

I think it's an issue in SqueezeCenter. I don't think it shows mixer icons in the header when navigating to an album from "New Music" while it do show them when navigating to an Album from the "Albums" or "Artists" menu. If you navigate to an album that is supposed to have a MusicIP mixer you will see that it is also missing from the header in the "New Music" menu but exists in the "Albums"/"Artists" menus.

This message has been introduced when fixing Bug 8767 (3 days ago). Maybe you could add your informations to this bug...

Yes you are right - all mixers are affected. I've raised bug 8810.

With today's build the MusicIP Playlist are generated, but not displayed in the Web UI or SB3. The server log shows all the tracks that have been selected for the Mix. The Web UI displays the MusicIP Mix panel with the name of the seed song and the word "Empty" where the playlist should be. Selecting MusicIP Mix in the SB3 also generates the MusicIP Mix in the server log, but nothing else happens. I'm using today's Windows 23568 build on Windows XP. I'm also using erland's Dynamic Playlist plugin.

I no longer have the issue I mentioned above after installing today's SC 7.3 build. I'm not sure what specifically fixed it, but I'm glad to be back in business.

It's been discussed in bugs 8766 and 9188. Both are fixed in 7.3.
