Is it possible to use external USB HDD to an empty QNAP TS-1xx ?

Hi everyone,

I have 2 non-SATA hard disks (40Gb and 250Gb) with the old ATA connectors USB HD casings.

Since most common NAS require SATA hard disks so mo choice but to buy one for future use with SATA hard disks.

I read that QNAP NAS allow external USB casings to be connected to it, so is it possible to have the 2 USB HD casings with the 2 old hard disks to be connected to the QNAP TS-1xx (with no disk inside the QNAP)?
