A new Ripper & NAS combination:
http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=17151
Looks interesting from the choice of hardware & software (taken from the page):
When tasked with building a ripping appliance, high design goals were set, resulting in:
- dBpoweramp CD Ripper: securest of the secure
- Case: winner of Intel's SFF design contest
- PerfectMeta™: using 4 metadata providers: AMG, GD3, MusicBrainz and freedb simultaneously
- Laptop 2.5" hard drive(s): 3.5" drives are too noisy for the living room!
- Windows Home Server
- Streamable to uPnP, DAAP (iTunes) and SqueezeCenter (Slim Devices)

I will be happy to answer any questions here, or on forum.dbpoweramp.com about this significant development for us (first of many hardware devices we hope).

I wish you well on your venture, hoping you will deliver a more credible and reliable machine than Ripfactory - which was a complete ripoff.

Spoon,
when will you start taking orders for the RipNas - the passively cooled one?

Only when we are 100% certain everything is inplace, such as all contracts signed with main suppliers (such as Microsoft, AMG, GD3, Twonky, etc). The launch will not rushed into.
I have updated the original news article:
http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=17151
With news of the dropping of the value system, and its replacement 'RipNAS Essentials'. Also of interest is the link to the testing we did of all the possible drives we could have used. RipNAS Essentials should launch in the next 2-3 weeks, all being well.Spoon- www.dbpoweramp.com

RipNas Essentials? That is a very very good Idea! I have Tranquil PC T7 hsa/hdx setup. I think this will be THE solution for me.
Thanks Spoon, excellent thinking.
