I haven't experienced the following myself, but I keep seeing people reporting it, e.g. here:

What happens is that plugins don't seem to upgrade correctly. People shut down SC, replace a plugin with a newer version and start SC again. Then they see the OLD plugin version.
Happened to two people with iPeng (even though on that one even the plugin name changed) and to one on CustomBrowse.
Any ideas? Any cache you could clear on OSX?
