Pretty much a newb here - I've got Version 7, firmware 86 if that makes any difference.
Anyway, I've ripped my collection of CDs to FLAC to an external hard drive. I've been using MP3tag to clean up some of the tags. For instance, some CDs were originally tagged as "Beatles", others as "The Beatles," and I wanted consistency, so I made them all "The Beatles." I chose "clear library and rescan everything" in Squeezecenter, thinking my new tags would be there.
When I browse by artist, the old tags are still there. If I browse my Music Folder, the new tags are there. How can I make sure that the changed tags are everywhere? With 800+ CDs, it makes it a little difficult to have to look in several places for the same artist.
Thanks in advance.

It is most likely that the files contain more than one set of tags and that SC is reading older tags. It kind of doesn't know what to do with multiple tag types especially if they have different information. At a guess you have ID3 and Flac tags in the same file.
MP3tag can be set up to remove the ID3 tags. Unfortunately I can't recall how but either search of either the wiki or messages should show up the correct settings. Once done a clear and rescan should sort out the problem.

While its true that multiple tag types in one file is likely to confuse SC, this shouldn't [NB - not the same as "won't" !] be the case here, it would be unusual to have ID3 tags in a FLAC file. But you should certainly check by using mp3tag to tell you the tag types in your files.
Other possibilities:
- you have some playlists hanging around from before you changed the tags
- when you are browsing Music Folder, SC is really reading the file names, not the tags, so perhaps your new tag values haven't made it after all (did you perhaps change the file names but not the tag values?)

OK, I figured it out by delving deeper into the files using MP3tag.
Hidden from the main page of MP3tag, visible by clicking the view button, is another set of tags, including one labeled ALBUMARTIST (this is in addition to ALBUM and ARTIST). By changing the ALBUMARTIST tag, which apparently is read by SC, and then rescanning, I was able to get everything to my satisfaction.
Thanks for the replies anyway.
