Is it possible to use an Omnifi DMS1 to play from a Slimserver or Slimcenter, getting all the server facilities?
I have tried connecting a DMS1 to my network, but it sees (and plays) the music only as a collection of folders and files on the server, not as searchable music albums and playlists, like the Squeezebox sees. Also, the DMS1 so far has not seen the internet radio streams. Had anyone else managed to get this combo to work?
My SlimServer is running on a Synology DS-207; I would rather not have to run another server just to support the Omnifi DMS1.

No, sorry. SqueezeCenter doesn't support DNLA which is what the DMS1 appears to use. What's more, you've discovered why we like SC more than DNLA

SimpleCenter support DMS-1 now
Your only choice is to go to the SimpleCenter website and download that application. The current versions of that software fully support the DMS-1 device

Thanks for the reply. What does DNLA stand for? A Google search suggests Digital Living Network Alliance, presumably on the assumption that I was looking for DLNA rather than DNLA! Is that correct?
As for SimpleCentre; no thanks. That would require that I run a Windows PC all the time. Running SlimServer on the lower-power-consuming DS-207 avoids that. Looks like I will be able only to play files on the DMS1.

Indeed, it's DLNA not DNLA
Basically the same as upnp, so I believe the DMS1 should work for fileserving with any upnp server such as tversity. I assume the synology has one built in.
