    I have beta10, but the file is not there. I'm not going to worry about it though

I don't have PuTTY or Telnet so therefore can't get into the Qnap. What a pain. Hopefully it will be up and running soon. Thanks again.
    Humm... If you don't have PuTTy or Telnet or SSODS, then I can't understand how you got Squeezecentre installed and working.

    Someone should probably also mention that there is also another SlimServer setup (the one created by Progressive). This version was installed on my TS-109 when I bought it (from Ripcaster), and it might also be the version that 'should' have been installed on yours when you bought it. I stopped using this version however as it seemd to be riddled with bugs.

    I find that the SSODS/Squeezecenter 7 setup works much better.

    Well, I used the 'run' function in windows and typed in the name of my NAS which brought up the NAS Server folders. Then I downloaded the Zipfile and copied it to the 'public file' and set it up using this;

    I think my web browser must be failing to display that page properly, as I can't see any usefull information on it

    I would point out however that these instructions are for the DiskStation, not for the QNap TurboStation. You appear to have gone and followed the wrong set of instructions. I think this is the page you should have been following.

    I think this is becoming mighty confusing. That file you quote was already installed by the supplier. However, when I typed in the IP address of my NAS I got the homepage which said 'tar ball' not installed please click install. The Tar Ball, according to QNAP forums is the zip file for squeezecenter which is not installed with SSODS.....or SSOTS .

    According to the suppliers website;

    http://www.store2go.net/shop/discoun...ured+Solution/

    You can see they install SSODS if you scroll down. Now I bought this same item so I presume they got the software correct ?

    Right. So I assume that you went for the SSODS Squeezecentre option then.

    Now I'm having to make a few guesses here, but it sounds like they installed SSODS but they didn't install SqueezeCentre. If SSODS is already installed, then you probably don't need to use Telnet, although it can be useful to be able to do it, so it might still be worth a quick searh to find copy of PuTTy.

    In case you are confused SSODS is an application that you use to install Squeezecentre, but it isn't actualy Squeezecentre.

    To get SqueezeCentre you have to download it from the web and then use SSODS to install it.
    This is the SlimDevices web site
    http://www.slimdevices.com/
    If you click on Support, then click on Download Squeezecentre, you should get to this page
    http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html
    The file you need, is the Pearl Source code.
    As Flip Flop points out, some web browsers change the name of the file when you download it. If this happens then it is probably best to try a different web browser to download it. (Renaming it might also fix the problem, but then it's probably better if it works properly in the first place).

    Once you have this you can use SSODS to install it. I can't remember the details of how this is done but there is a button you can press on the SSODS web interface on port 9099.

    I hope that clarifies things a bit.

    Oh one other thought.

    I hope this is a stupid question, but have you actually tried accessing port 9001. This is the port for the Squeezecenter Web interface. That way you will find out whether Squeezecentre is actually installed or not. If it is installed then a web page will come up on this port, and you will only need to make a few basic settings to get it working.

    Hey Richard,

    Thanks for your continued support as I literally feel sick thinking I have spent hundreds of pounds on something which doesn't work.

    OK, yes you are right in that they installed SSODS but not SC. I installed SC myself and got it all up and running etc (I can access it via :9001). The clock displays and it boots up if I switch the NAS off then on again. The only problem I have is that when I rescan the library it doesn't work - hence all my queries. It is this one problem giving me a major headache. So, what settings do I need to change to get it working as I thought the problem lay with the SSODS software ?

    EDIT:I can access the music library on my NAS from the SC web-page and play songs through my SB3.It's just this scanning that's not working.

    That's a bit slack on their part then, not setting it up as a working system. I suppose at least though they did the hard part, in getting SSODS installed.

    As for the scanning problem, as I said I didn't have this problem myself, so I'm relying on what other people have said. And they say it is due to a library file that isn't removed from
    Squeezecentre\CPAN\Compress

    Do you remember which version of SSODS you have, is it beta10, as this is the version with the bug in it. Perhaps have a quick look at port 9099 to check which version you have.

    Also you could find that folder
    Squeezecentre\CPAN\Compress
    using Windows Explorer, and check that the offending file is not there.

    Either that or install PuTTy and then log in and check that the file is not there, as I explained in a earlier post.

    Beyond that I don't know what to suggest, as I said I haven't come accress this problem myself.

    Richard.
