Very interesting. I see they use Freedb.org and gd3 for their metadata. How large a database is gd3?

I had a look. GD3 is really quite well populated. Seems like this machine is a peach. (£699 for 1 TB is steep, but you get the integrated ripping)
Finally someone has taken the rabbit by the scruff of the neck.
The question will then be: How silent?

All
Excuse the intrusion, but as the manufacturer just thought I would chip in.
Ripserver just started shipping at the end of last week and has been well received.
To answer the quetsion on noise - we run a fanless Epia unit so there are no internal fans in processor os PSU - the PSU is a seperate laptop brick type unit. The only noise source (aside from drive spin up when ripping) is the internal HD, a 7200 device set to quiet mode so noise is kept to a minimum.
Any other questions , feel free to ask.

Fanless then? excellent. I noticed the unit has 512 Mb Ram. Can one order it with 1 Gb?
Also: How was the GD3 database populated in the first place? Internally or via agreements with CDDB for example?
I did some searches for odd authors on your website, and found it to cover quite a bit of stuff - Do you have a comunity feeding you info about records you might not yet have put into the database?

Actually, anything in the current build list (shipping from next week) has 1Gb Ram, site has not been updated yet to reflect this.
GD3 was populated via hand entry and acquisition of data, plus matching Tocs - there is no tie up with CDDB.
There is not a feed a la FreeDB , but there is a feed from any GD3 enabled software - try out our freeware www.ripstationmicro.com - it is a batch ripper and when metadata is keyed it will submit this to GD3.
Most of whatw e do is automated CD ripping robotics for the cd ripping industry , so they catch a lot of data in the course of their business and feed this back.

Well,
downloaded the software (ripstationmicro), asked for a key, got a non-conform one
(eg a key such as RIPSTATIONMICRO-XXXXX-XXXX rather than RIPSTATIONMICRO-XXXX-XXXX-XX).
Would you please advise?SqbxSvr Running on MacMini Server

Please redownload the application from the same link and all will be well.
I checked in with our support staff and they had been moving file mirrors today , it seems this one had not yet updated.
I have checked this and it is now fine.
Happy ripping.
