Trouble scrolling to end of artists list on SBC...

I just got a SBC, and I'm having a problem scrolling to the end of the artist list.

If I start at the beginning, and fast scroll through the list of artists, I'll frequently end up in one of two situations. One, I'll get to V, and it will jump back to the beginning of the list (Various Artists, probably a coincidence), or it will end up in the W's. I have a fair number of artists in the W's (12 according to the web), and few after. 1 X (XTC), 5 Y's (Yes, Yo-La Tengo, Yo-Yo Ma, Yo-Yo again, with a friend, and The Young Dubliners), and only Warren Zevon in the Z's (yes, my artistsort tags are a mess). When I end up in the W's, scrolling down will frequently stop, until it skips forwards around the end to Various Artists again.

Similarly, I can scroll backwards through Various Artists, and around the end, I always end up in the W's. Never see X, Y, or Z show up (ok, I landed on Yo-Yo Ma once, but I haven't been able to repeat it since).

When the cursor get's "stuck" in the W's, it doesn't seem to want to scroll at all, until it breaks out and jumps aways away. Similarly, if the clock screensaver kicks in, it stays in place for a while, even while moving the scroll wheel. It seems like it stays in the screensaver until the screen actually changes, which may be after using the wheel for a bit and the list jumps to the beginning.

I have only seen this in the artists list. Not the albums or genre's. Appears to be 100% repeatable in the artists list.

I have 519 Artists. Don't know if that matters.

I appear to be running version 7.0 r1985, if I'm reading that correctly.

Known issue? Or should I file a bug in the morning?

I had a similar problem, but mine got stuck in the E's and refused to go forwards until I selected that artist and backed out again to the artist list. I need to update my server to see if it's gone away.

The important information on this one is actually what version of SqueezeCenter you are running. If it's not current, update it and see if that fixes it.

    cheers,

Well, it was pretty close. I was running the nightly from a few nights back, squeezecenter-7.0-0.2.17630.

I went to upgrade to the latest to check this this morning, but unfortunately, I ran yum last night to pull down any updates. It pulled a new version of perl which is claiming to not support weak references, and compilation is failing when it attempts to load SqueezeCenter. So right now, I'm dead in the water until I can figure out how to back out this version of perl, or the Fedora gods release a new version which fixes this.

    You can fix this by

    becoming root

    then run
    perl -MCPAN -e shell

    then from perl command line

    force install Scalar::Util

basically the new build of perl that is in the yum repository was built with the non-XS version of Scalar::Util

    reference is here

Thanks man, you're a godsend. I'd tried "install Scalar::Util", but obviously that didn't work. Told me something about Scalar::Util being up to date. Didn't know about the force command.

We now return the regularly scheduled bug discussion...

I had exactly the same problem (artist scrolling got stuck at 'K'), when running SBC firmware r2009 and SC7 from 7th Feb nightly. I updated SC7 to 23rd Feb nightly and the problem was fixed.

I've done the same and the problem has gone, however I have a new one, really bad wireless connectivity. I keep losing signal and the music keeps breaking up. The only way I fixed it was by turning off either the receiver or my SB2. Running them both really messes up reception. Anyone else seen this?

I have the 23rd Nightly, and latest firmware on controller and SB2 (and receiver I presume). I've tried changing wireless channels, but that didn't help. All the other devices on the network have a strong solid signal with no issues.
