D-link DNS-323

Has anyone setup slimserver and squeezebox while storing all of your music files on a D-link DNS-323 NAS ? I'm about to try to set this up and need advice. Thanks!

Are you sure it is running on the DNS-323? If it is, you should be able to pull up the web ui via <http://dns-ip:9000/>, where you substitute the IP address of the DNS-323 for "dns-ip". What version of slimserver/squeezecenter did you install?

Well, i dont have a squeezebox yet but i installed softsqueeze and this program (a software squeezebox) connects with slimserver (version 6.3) on the nas.

I know the address of the config pages is http://ipnas:9000 but when i point my browser there i get the standard message that the page can not be reached.

It is not a problem of the nas because when i install the twonkyserver which also works on 9000, i can access the configpages of the twonkyserver.

So i'm lost, any help?

I assume you've tried the numeric IP address? Try turning off firewalls, or try accessing the web ui from a different computer. Other than that, I'm not sure what to suggest, especially as I'm not familiar with the D-Link NAS and you've given such little information about it (OS, etc.).

yes i did in my case: http://192.168.2.10:9000.
I installed the slimserver when running a chrooted debian etch on the nas. I'm an absolute beginner on linux. After i did apt-get install slimserver, it just started downloading and installing a bunch of files and the last lines of it are:

When i start softsqueeze it detects the server, tells me i have to upgrade to 6.5. But since i can not configure anything on the server that's it.

Just in case you are interested, this is the whole thing after the install asked me if i wanted the lastest firmware package as well, which i denied.

thanks for the additional info. Unfortunately I don't have any bright ideas for you. I assume that if you do "ps -A" or "ps aux | grep slimserver" it shows a slimserver process running?

Use Slimserver command line logging option d_startup and d_server to get more info during startup - including access to port 9000.

There is a mention of httpaddr=127.0.0.1. Does this mean anything?
