I’m using a Dell Optiplex running XP pro as my SqueezeCenter and one plugin I rely on heavily is ‘Windows: Prevent System Standby While Playing’. I don’t want my SC running 24/7 so this is a nearly ideal solution.
The plugin works well, but has got one annoying quirk in that the system goes into standby about 2 min after the music is paused. It does this regardless of the time-to-standby specified in the XP power management setup. (I think others have commented on this also, so it’s not just me.)
Why’s this a problem? Well, when you first wake up SC you have very little time to find the music you want before the system goes back to sleep again. You can get round this by selecting something quickly but its gets annoying after a while. More importantly, I will be getting a Controller soon which I will be using for info browsing as well as music. The SC does not stay awake when using this option (well not for my SB3 anyway) and it’s a real pain to have to wake the SC up every 2 minutes.
What would be really great is a modded plugin that mirrors the time-to-standby that you set in the XP power management options. Please please!

Scrap this request
Sorry, scrap that request! The Plugin is fine, it’s a Windows issue.
In the article below its states: “This behavior occurs because Wake-on-LAN is typically configured to return your computer to standby or hibernation after two minutes of inactivity”.

Anyone know if there is a way to reconfigure this time period?
Thanks

Sorry, I don't think you can stop Windows going back to sleep
I spent quite a lot of time trying to find a solution to this last year but failed. However, I did manage to work around it in my plugin - have a look at this post if you are interested.
