    Mac. SS stops/no auto start

I have an old MacG4, OS 10.4.11. I installed SS 6.5.4. It will stay running for only 30 seconds and then stops. Also SS will not auto start on bootup.
Have gone thro all security settings and browser settings and cannot see anything that will help.

I cannot access web page either with any browser. Any ideas welcome.

Could you please provide us with the slimserver.log - you should find it somewhere in ~/Library/ or /Library/

    Hello Graley,

I encountered the same problem last november. I have an Intel iMac with Leopard 10.5.1. I followed The Witty Frog's advice and everything works fine since then. This is what you should do.

    1. Removed all references to Slim Devices (6.5.5) and Squeeze Center... this includes:

    a) <disk><username>/Library/Application Support/SqueezeCenter directory
    b) <disk><username>/Library/Caches/SqueezeCenter directory
    c) <disk><username>/Library/Caches/SlimServer directory
    d) <disk><username>/Library/Keychains directory (replaced with empty Keychains directory)
    e) <disk><username>/Library/Logs directory (replaced with empty Logs directory)
    f) <disk><username>/Library/Preferences/com.slimdevices.slim.plist
    g) <disk><username>/Library/PreferencePanes/SlimServer.prefpane
    h) <disk><username>/Library/PreferencePanes/SqueezeCenter.prefpane
    j) <disk><username>/Library/Slim Devices directory

    k) <disk>/Library/PreferencePanes/SlimServer.prefpane
    l) <disk>/Library/PreferencePanes/SqueezeCenter.prefpane
    m) <disk>/Library/Slim Devices directory
    n) <disk>/Library/SqueezeCenter directory

(Not all of the above may be on your system)

    2. Restarted computer to ensure SD/SC preference pane gone
    3. Emptied trash.
    4. Installed 10.5.1 Combo update over previous installation.
    5. Restarted and repaired permissions.
    6. Went into System Preferences - Security - Firewall: allowed all connections and deleted any references to Slim Devices "allows" (perl, MDNResponderPosix)
    7. Ran Cocktail software and cleaned all users caches
    8. Restarted.
    9. Installed SqueezeCenter, choosing ALL USERS.
10........ It worked!!...... clicked on Start Server and chose "When I log in".
    11. Scanned iTunes library.
    12. Restarted to ensure SC actually did start up.
    13. Turned off SC.
    14. Went into Preferences - Security - Firewall
    15. Chose "set access for specific services..."
    16. Restarted SqueezeCenter from Preferences.
    17. Hoped messages would appear "allowing connections from perl" etc.... clicked yes yes yes....
    18. Good to go!!

    Best of luck!!!!

    Mac. Not start

Yes !!! Thank you. It works ! But not with Safari. FF is OK. Somewhere buried in Safari settings there must be a box to check to all SS to enter. But I cannot find it. But I will be happy with FFox. Have a great day.

What failure do you see in Safari? Can't you open http://localhost:9000/ ?

    Mac not start

I had not cleared Safari cache. I just did, and now Slim will open Safari. Thank you. These forums are worth weight in gold and time consumption re-inventing wheels.
