Do these entries in the prefs file have an effect on the SB's output or are they just leftover from previous versions? (and now redundant)

The original SB had/has controllable bass & treble. That feature has never been reimplemented in the more recent hardware (SB2/3/TP). See http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1305
